This treasure find is a sword found by a customer from Kermanshah, a city in the west of Iran. The material is a mixture of iron/lead/copper/tin/gold/silver and antimony. This metal detector find belongs to the Sassanian Empire in the region.
The Sassanid Empire was the last pre-Islamic Persian Empire, ruled by the Sasanian Dynasty from 224 to 651. The Sassanid Empire, which succeeded the Parthian Empire, was recognized as one of the two main powers in Western Asia and Europe, alongside the Roman Empire and later the Byzantine Empire, for a period of more than 400 years.
